The Recreation Program was designed to give adults (over age 18 and out of high school) a chance to get out in the community and enjoy fun events.
We offer a wide variety of activities for adults with developmental disabilities. There are several different types of activities provided.
These include: Local Events, Day Trips, Overnight Trips and Athletic Activities through Special Olympics of Missouri (SOMO).
Local Events are the things we do in Franklin County. They normally last only a few hours and are primarily cheaper than all of our other activities. Some of these are: Dances, Bingo, Karaoke, Craft Day and Picnics
Day Trips are the trips that we take outside of Franklin County and generally last most of the day. Some of these have been: St. Louis Zoo, Purina Farms, Grant’s Farm, Concerts, Theaters, America’s Incredible Pizza and Shopping Trips to the St. Louis Malls.
Once or twice a year, we book a trip with Mid-American Coaches. We have been to Branson, Chicago, Indianapolis, Nashville, Kansas City and many more places. We take plenty of staff to help all of our consumers with any needs they might have.
Special Olympics of Missouri
Here at DSFC, we are involved in SOMO’s Bowling, Basketball and Flag Football. We compete in Local, Area, District, Regional and State Tournaments.
Helping you have fun, one event at a time!
