When a married couple with a developmental disability moved to Franklin County, they needed a little help to live independently. A Service Coordinator met with them to help them assess their needs and find the appropriate services. This couple wanted to be as independent as possible and learn to be active members in their community. In order for them to gain this independence they needed only a few hours of a Personal Assistant’s time each month to help them budget, pay bills, balance their checkbook, and develop a shopping list. With just a little bit of support they have been successful. They continue to be good neighbors and happy members of their community.
